Organic Education

Organic education is the philosophy that children are born with an innate desire and ability to learn. They are curious about the world around them and when allowed to investigate will make amazing discoveries. Organic learning occurs in a natural state and develops within the child. It starts with curiosity and when given the opportunity to problem solve and explore options, children will find answers on their own.

An environment with as few barriers as possible gives children the freedom to form their own imaginative playgroups which create a space for them to educate each other and inextricably interweave productive work, play and learning. The outdoors is an integral part of this process.

Organic learning is self-paced and child driven. Teachers are facilitators who prompt children with open ended, thought provoking questions, create space for them to explore and provide opportunities for curiosity to lead to learning. They encourage each child’s internal motivation to learn.
